Where is the Rivenhall Airfield and where would the proposed Incinerator site be? |
Above you see the Rivenhall Airfield (marked A) in the local context. (Courtesy of Google Mapping.) The triangular runway configuration can be seen below the Bradfield Quarry. Access to the Incinerator site will be along the haul road from the A120 - this can be seen running from the A120 to the quarry. This will be extended to the Site.
The A120 can be seen running East to West along the top of the map. Bradwell is on the top left and Coggeshall top right. Silver End is at the bottom of the map and to the left of the Airfield. Kelvedon and Feering lie just off the map bottom right. Rivenhall and Witham lie further South off the map. Braintree lies just East of the map. The next map, below, closes in on the airfield:
Below is shown a plan (taken from the papers presented in relation to the meeting at Essex CC on 24th April 2009). Here you can see the road from the A120 to the incinerator site and the site itself - highlighted in mauve. Neighbouring buildings and villages are highlighted in light yellow.
Apologies for the colours which have changed during the scanning process. However the plan is not unclear in spite of them! The map/diagram below shows the proposed site itself:

The proposed site comprises a large part of the airfield (to the right) but skirts around Woodhouse Farm.
