This is the web-site of the Community Group which has been set up by a number of mid-Essex local organisations who oppose the Proposed Regional Recycling and Waste Site at the Rivenhall Airfield in Essex. The local organisations are: the Heritage groups from Coggeshall, Kelvedon and Feering, and Witham, CPRE Essex, the Ramblers Association and the original "Stop the Incinerator Campaign" group.

In particular the Community Group was represented at the Public Inquiry, which start on 29th September 2009 and lasted three weeks. Our web-site is intended:

• To help you understand the implications of the proposed Incinerator
• To give you some understanding of the proposal itself
• To explain why we objected
• To update you on our finances
  
• To answer the more common questions which we are asked

5th October 2009 - SEE STOP PRESS for an opportunity to write to the Planning Inspectorate to object - the developer has introduced a large number of changes to the original application.

11th November 2009 - see the Press Release under "Stop Press" following the end of the inquiry.  The result will be known by the end of March 2010.

7th March 2010 - See "Stop Press" for details of the decision announced by the Secretary of State.  Also you may download the entire decision reports in PDF format.  The development has been passed with conditions.  In particular there are conditions as regards the height of the controversial chimney.
